Players not dealt damage when hit

Bug Report

Brief Description of Bug: When shooting at civs on the MPS team, sometimes your shots will have no affect on said user. ( Can provide an example )
Steps to Reproduce: (if applicable) Find civ that has a firearm and has dealt damage to others, then a MPS will shoot them, with no affect to the civ
Gameplay Impact: (Low, Medium, High, Severe) Severe

Additionally, this applies to ALL MPS team members, including MO19, who can damage any civ. Thought I’d add that.

Thanks for your report and additions to said report.

In your two clips provided by @Wheelanctx, you are in a tree. The foliage can interfere with the weapon’s raycasting (due to having collisions with the rays). This means the shot may not register correctly, even though the target appears to be in line of sight, so these clips may not reliably demonstrate the reported issue.

If anyone has footage of this occurring outside of foliage or obstructions, that would help us better reproduce and investigate the bug.

Here is an irrefutable example. Also included the conversation of me and the civ I am trying to kill, who is a friend, is our own Discord server, confirming I have a hit on my end and he did not take any damage. No obstruction.

Now while I agree that the thought behind this random kill detection feature is a good one, and no doubt it will improve the experience of civs who are more likely to be targeted for abuse. But the thing is, at this point, this feature is so broken, I won’t even call it a bug as it is not even random. It’s broken. And it’s affecting the gameplay of any one that is armed in MPS, particularly frustrating for me who just bought both CP and police sniper gamepasses.

Hence, I would like to humbly request that this feature be removed in its entirety for the time being, at least until it is fixed into a better shape, where we can say random occurrence of bugs, instead of a completely broken feature that doesn’t do what it actually intends to do. Because to log on and just spawn into an overrun NSY and get spawn killed, just does not make sense at all.

Thank you to the devs for their hard work, and I do hope that my temporary proposal can be taken into account.

And here’s another one of a user actively shooting RGs. Multiple hits, won’t go down. I believe he was downed by RGs instead of my AWP.

I can confirm that this issue is likely related to a bug we are currently investigating.

I’ll leave the thread open for anyone else to provide additional examples or feedback, but rest assured that we are actively working on identifying the root cause.

Happy to report that I have been able to kill most armed civs as of now. Thank you very much for all your hard work!
