Whether you like it or not, OCGs are a part of the game. Face that fact right now - it is here to stay, no matter what you throw at OCGs.
I know this has been suggested before, but I believe a new post is necessary here. (The old suggestion was made by @dxte3r in 2025)
What is an Organised Crime Group?
An Organised Crime Group is a group of civilians who group up to cause havoc by means of in-game illegal activities, most notably including roof raids and deployments where groups of members would band up together to have fun and play Buckingham Palace in their respective manor.
KEY: Throughout this suggestion, I refer to Organised Crime Groups as “OCGs”. This is the most common abbreviation, and many people turn to this abbreviation when talking about Organised Crime Groups.
Without the continuous activity of OCGs, Buckingham Palace simply would not be as enjoyable. Without civilians, teams like MPS soon become useless as there is no crime to fight, completely removing the point of the team entirely. You must take action to continue civilian activity.. this suggestion is aimed directly to combat this.
What I propose:
I propose that the hardworking team at Volute should embrace the permanent and consistent nature of Organised Crime Groups and invite them to become a core part of the game. This could be done in many ways, but I have thought out and curated some of the most likely ways:
- #ocgs in the Buckingham Palace discord server: A possible way of using this idea would to be to have a channel with a list of all official OCG(s), so that members of the community can much more easily access the respective community servers.
- A simple announcement of some sort: Instead of a dedicated channel, new official OCGs could be sent via an announcement. How this would be implemented into the community would be up to the discretion of the developers.
- A category: A dedicated category in the community server for OCGs! This is most unlikely, and would only be feasible if the developers chose to stick to a singular OCG, as adding countless new channels would be ridiculous.
Notable points:
Obviously, I understand this suggestion, as all suggestions do, come alongside its pros and its cons.
- Community Standards: The servers would have to uphold strict community standards, just as LiveShield do respectively within Volute servers, subsequentially, settling on a way to enforce community standards within individual OCG servers has a diverse range of options. Perhaps LiveShield would have to watch over these servers? Would these servers become Volute property in that manner of respect, or would Volute ensure the respective moderation departments are up to standard. This would have to be discussed, as it is a major topic in this matter.
- Too many members: As some may know, OCG deployments can get big. That is undeniable, but also part of the group! Allowing for so many new community members is a big onboarding, so ensuring that member count does not grow too high could potentially be an issue with this suggestion; so ensuring that OCG have a clearly outlined selection process which ensures that selectivity limits member count passively is a possible solution to counteract large amounts of applications.
Further information, questions, and answers:
What could requirements for an OCG include?
In order for an Organised Crime Group to be officialised, they must meet a variety of requirements, these could include:
- A minimum member count in their respective communications server, perhaps around 100, as this is a large enough figure to reach independtly.
- A minimum count of official crime group members, to prove the group is active.
- A positive position within the BP community, so that toxic or rule-breaking groups are not given officialisation. This would include a series of background checks.
Furthermore, the developers count add or subtract onto these points. These are only suggestions after all.
Why are you making this suggestion?
I am making this suggestion as I am a current member of an OCG (Infernus) who believes that OCGs are a core part of the Buckingham Palace community, and thus integrating them into the wider Volute ‘ecosystem’ would be highly beneficial to improve overall gameplay dynamic.
I believe that over time, the imbalance has shifted between teams, going from civilians being overpowered to underpowered, and vice versa, and the amount of players playing BP has only plummeted. BP used to high 1k CCU, now it struggles to reach 300. That may be general player base deterioration, but suggestions like these are made to help slow down that deterioration by thinking about what would benefit the most amount of people, helping to improve gameplay and user experience.
What are your opinions on this suggestion?
Obviously, I am in major favour of my suggestion, however, this creates bias. I am open to any constructive criticism in regards to my suggestion, but I have no toleration towards unthoughtful comments with no regard to both sides of the argument here; for and against. Please, if you have any thoughtful comments to share in regards to this suggestion, please share them! I would love to hear any remarks you might have, but please, if you wouldn’t mind, back your ideas.
Looking forward to your responses and feedback,
ThatAirlineGuy
