Official OCGs

Whether you like it or not, OCGs are a part of the game. Face that fact right now - it is here to stay, no matter what you throw at OCGs.
I know this has been suggested before, but I believe a new post is necessary here. (The old suggestion was made by @dxte3r in 2025)

What is an Organised Crime Group?

An Organised Crime Group is a group of civilians who group up to cause havoc by means of in-game illegal activities, most notably including roof raids and deployments where groups of members would band up together to have fun and play Buckingham Palace in their respective manor.

KEY: Throughout this suggestion, I refer to Organised Crime Groups as “OCGs”. This is the most common abbreviation, and many people turn to this abbreviation when talking about Organised Crime Groups.

Without the continuous activity of OCGs, Buckingham Palace simply would not be as enjoyable. Without civilians, teams like MPS soon become useless as there is no crime to fight, completely removing the point of the team entirely. You must take action to continue civilian activity.. this suggestion is aimed directly to combat this.

What I propose:

I propose that the hardworking team at Volute should embrace the permanent and consistent nature of Organised Crime Groups and invite them to become a core part of the game. This could be done in many ways, but I have thought out and curated some of the most likely ways:

  • #ocgs in the Buckingham Palace discord server: A possible way of using this idea would to be to have a channel with a list of all official OCG(s), so that members of the community can much more easily access the respective community servers.
  • A simple announcement of some sort: Instead of a dedicated channel, new official OCGs could be sent via an announcement. How this would be implemented into the community would be up to the discretion of the developers.
  • A category: A dedicated category in the community server for OCGs! This is most unlikely, and would only be feasible if the developers chose to stick to a singular OCG, as adding countless new channels would be ridiculous.

Notable points:

Obviously, I understand this suggestion, as all suggestions do, come alongside its pros and its cons.

  • Community Standards: The servers would have to uphold strict community standards, just as LiveShield do respectively within Volute servers, subsequentially, settling on a way to enforce community standards within individual OCG servers has a diverse range of options. Perhaps LiveShield would have to watch over these servers? Would these servers become Volute property in that manner of respect, or would Volute ensure the respective moderation departments are up to standard. This would have to be discussed, as it is a major topic in this matter.
  • Too many members: As some may know, OCG deployments can get big. That is undeniable, but also part of the group! Allowing for so many new community members is a big onboarding, so ensuring that member count does not grow too high could potentially be an issue with this suggestion; so ensuring that OCG have a clearly outlined selection process which ensures that selectivity limits member count passively is a possible solution to counteract large amounts of applications.

Further information, questions, and answers:

What could requirements for an OCG include?

In order for an Organised Crime Group to be officialised, they must meet a variety of requirements, these could include:

  1. A minimum member count in their respective communications server, perhaps around 100, as this is a large enough figure to reach independtly.
  2. A minimum count of official crime group members, to prove the group is active.
  3. A positive position within the BP community, so that toxic or rule-breaking groups are not given officialisation. This would include a series of background checks.

Furthermore, the developers count add or subtract onto these points. These are only suggestions after all.

Why are you making this suggestion?

I am making this suggestion as I am a current member of an OCG (Infernus) who believes that OCGs are a core part of the Buckingham Palace community, and thus integrating them into the wider Volute ‘ecosystem’ would be highly beneficial to improve overall gameplay dynamic.

I believe that over time, the imbalance has shifted between teams, going from civilians being overpowered to underpowered, and vice versa, and the amount of players playing BP has only plummeted. BP used to high 1k CCU, now it struggles to reach 300. That may be general player base deterioration, but suggestions like these are made to help slow down that deterioration by thinking about what would benefit the most amount of people, helping to improve gameplay and user experience.

What are your opinions on this suggestion?

Obviously, I am in major favour of my suggestion, however, this creates bias. I am open to any constructive criticism in regards to my suggestion, but I have no toleration towards unthoughtful comments with no regard to both sides of the argument here; for and against. Please, if you have any thoughtful comments to share in regards to this suggestion, please share them! I would love to hear any remarks you might have, but please, if you wouldn’t mind, back your ideas.

Looking forward to your responses and feedback,
ThatAirlineGuy

This does sound like a great idea instead of have official unofficial OCGs, however if this is becoming official rules such as not targeting unarmed units need to be implemented.

Why should you be recognised officially with extended efforts when OCGs have never prior, or even now been able to maintain a level of respect. I also believe it speaks volumes when members within Met Operations would most certainly be against doing collaborative events, so why would you be recognised across the game if you are unable to reach a level of a single organisation wanting to work together?

I thought I was in reading class while reading all this.

Imo this would create too much arguments to the point where we have forum debates. I like the way how it is currently. good job volute and good job OCGs

The history of MET vs. OCGs is plagued by the fact that everyone wants to win. Whether you like it or not, you secretly want to win. This is the reason why partnerships don’t work out because you are limited in how much you can win.

Someone has to lose and no one likes losing. People find things “fun” when they win. Winning is fun. Losing is not. Therefore, people adapt in order to win more. MO19 Command authorises free fire sometimes so that they have some chance of winning (which is mostly fair enough) and there are other exmaples too.

What I’m saying is this. OCGs are not the direct issue. There are 2 sides to an argument. You argue that as MO7 you get shot because you exist. I know for a fact that’s not true. If you leave OCGs alone, they will not kill you. People find Infernus boring because they box people but I’m going to pose this question to you. Do MO19 and MO8 not do the same?

For those who can’t tell, they obviously do the same. Why? Because it’s effective and it allows them to win.

The funny thing about this is, yeah sure OCGs are a permanent part of the game, but ever since Space Recon, what OCG has lasted over a few months without disbanding or getting banned/blacklisted? There’d be no point making anything for them in the servers because they all disappear after a month. Hollow Scouts + Raven Raiders are just an example.
Not to mention the fact all OCGs now that are actually Crime Groups officially, just target people for no reason and ruin a lot of the fun for a lot of players.
Not to mention the communities and the amount of disrespect OCG members have towards anyone not in their Group.
I can recount so many different times where Large OCG Leaders or ‘High ranking members’ in their own structure have been banned/suspended etc for breaking rules or whatever else.
OCGs are in the game, but should Never be made a Core part.

Also to mention collaboration, a lot of OCGs try collaborate with either MET Ops or GG, but why should we do that when all they do is target us? You wonder why members of Large OCGs are unable to join divisions, and is the same reason why, as i can say for GG personally, that we will never Collaborate with those OCGs who just target us, what’s the point? You’re only going to go back to doing the same thing once the event has ended.
That’s like saying MET teaming up with Armed Civilians to help rob NG, it just doesn’t happen.
There have been OCG’s in the past, such as Raven Raiders, who actually are respectful to people, and are genuinely friendly people to speak to. However, it’s incredibly rare for that to happen.

OCG’s should be left to their own separate part of the community, if you want to be with the rest of us, have the respect and dignity.

I feel bad for your airline; the hate in this post is crazy. Like, it’s just a suggestion, calm down.

I don’t think OCGs have historically been respectful towards other players, and even now, the game is made significantly less enjoyable by the likes of INFERNUS. I don’t believe that the game is about the style of play that OCGs currently engage in, as it makes the game quite often pretty unplayable and not at all fun for MPS. I don’t even see how some of these OCG members enjoy playing the way they do.

While no person should be attacked or harassed, history speaks for it self. Divisions are hold to standards with working displinary departments that in my experience, dont accept breach of standards.

As a member of Mo7 that get shot, killed and attacked for just existing I have a hard time seeing any organisation which focuses on committing serious crimes being able to hold the standards that you talk about.

While it can happend, it haven’t yet.

I personally welcome OCG being a part of the community, if it can happend on fair terms.

The few OCG vs Mo7 protest that have been done was great, and are missed.

Great idea

From a response police view, get OCGs GONE! Or limit the amount of OCG members in 1 particular server.
