MO7 should receive the same training for " Incident Management " as MO8 so we can easily block off the areas of protests without having to rely on Chief Officers or Met Operations 8 coming online.
As most people in MPS Qualified would know, Chief Officers and MO8 are not always online. And if there is MO8 online, they do not always be guaranteed to have the Incident Management Qualification.
Due to this, we as MO7 are restricted to how we can protect not only us as officers, but also our civilians who are protesting (Especially if at a public space such as Spur Rd, NSY, DS or Admiralty Arch.
Obviously, there should be limits to who can gain the qualification & I believe it should be Sergeant+ (Supervisor) who is deemed as a responsible being within the division to gain and withhold a qualification such as that, as we are closer to becoming Chief Officers who have the IM Qualification anyway, than regular constables.
Incident Management is what makes MO8 unique. If you ever need us, you can just put in a request, and we’ll deploy with IM. Basically, it’s kind of like giving MO8 the TSG qualification, respectfully, but you get my point.
Yes however an issue is MO8 never reads radio because they are dealing with other civilians being annoying so if the protest moves the TSG vans are trapped until someone realises and lets us out.
Personally, I believe that MO7 Supervisors should have access to them.
It is going to ensure a higher chance of safety for civilians protesting, spectating or assisting officers and MO7.
Of course, MO8 has IM to be “unique” but they also have the Intercept and Surge Team which carries out extremely unique duties to other regular patrolling officers.
Additionally, it is not always guaranteed for IM Qualified officers to come on scene, especially if it is later at night (BST Time, which most people observe) and if the server is already full with a large line of people, waiting to join the server.
You can use the phone messages app or request MO8 through the MPS server. I can tell that MO8 should read the radio, as communication is an important aspect of our job. Rarely do we not listen to the radio. If they still don’t listen to the radio for whatever reason, feel free to mention their username in the message so they will see the message.
Personally, I do not agree. TSG, in my opinion, is what is unique about MO7, whereas IM is what makes MO8 unique. If MO7 Supervisors had access to IM, it would be equivalent to giving MO8 access to TSG. In MO8, we occasionally have to wait for TSG to arrive as well, we all have to wait. If everyone had the same equipment, there would be virtually little difference between each division.
I agree with what you’re saying that IM is one of the unique things in Mo8. However, I think we should have some road barriers/metal crowd barriers to protect the protesters before any Mo8 shows up at the protests. The current only way for us to block off the road is with our vans placed in front of the protest. And giving Mo7 supervisors these metal crowd barriers would be pretty easy, as they already exist in-game.
I don’t think we need IM, but if we could get developer ploppables like RMP has, that would be great for public order incidents, giving us the ability to deploy barriers, etc
I’m like pretty sure itay0804 just wants people to join MO8 and is worried about anything “unique” being taken away from MO8. People are still gonna join MO8 if MO7 can also block off areas, I think he needs to chillax with a nice cup of tea
I think if a qualification that lets you place some cones and signs down is the sole reason your division is “unique”, the division needs to be considerably reworked.
I think it’d make a lot of sense for MO7 to be able to place things, especially barricades.
This image is actually from some Level 2 Public Order (not TSG who are Level 1), but barricades are used - there are actually quite a few different layouts for them.
Level 3 Public Order (which every operational Met Police officer is trained at a minimum) events also include barricades.
