Me ( Sgt Rhysmcg2011 ) and some other members from the MET Operations 7 division have gathered up a few ideas of which we think should be added / added back to keep our division, an amazing one as it should be.
Just a small note; I do NOT want Met Ops 8 or 19 coming in the comments, deciding to think we have everything already, as we do not.
Idea 1;
Bring back our SUPERVISOR WHITE CAPS back. This is something of which alot of MO7 have brought up as it is something we dearly miss. Bringing this back would also ensure we can identify members of the MO7 Supervisory Teams, easier than seeing a rank. Also, so we do not have Chief Superintendents thinking they are above us because they have CSupt above their name.
Idea 2;
Introduce a MED7 course. This would be something available for our Specialist Unit and Supervisor+ to ensure we have easier access to medical help. As we all know, LAS do not ever do their jobs and respond to incidents, if they do, we are about 5 seconds from respawning automatically.
By having this introduced, we will also be able to do what all echo members are wanting, and that is to include MO7 Specialist Unit in more of our regular duties.
Idea 3;
Higher protection percentage is needed on the Territorial Support Group ( TSG ) and Mounted Unit / Branch ( MU/B ) subclasses. We need a raised amount due to us usually having shooters or violent members at our protests, then leaving us dead half the time, due to them shooting / being violent from all angles known to man. If we end up dead, we are going to end up with more out-of-control protests / riots which is not something that should be happening, especially if MO7 / TSG is online.
Idea 4;
Give MO7 access to bollards at Buckingham Palace as we tend to have regular protests / public order events occuring at BP. If we do not have access to bollards nor access to Incident Management, how do we keep the scene of a public order incident, safe and secure for not only MO7, but the civilians partaking? We do this by utilising our vehicles / vans. Yes, I am aware we have CP etc who can open bollards ( MO8, MO19, this is for you to see ), but sometimes;
A: They are not always online
B: They take 2 or 3 minutes to actually come once we’ve asked for them multiple times in radio and in person. Those 2-3 minutes are vital to MO7, as this is more time which we can have, controlling a PO incident.
Idea 5;
This is regarding our Mounted Unit; I & some more MO7 believe Mounted Unit should receive shields as well. These officers are “meant” to be involved in assisting TSG in dealing with protests so it is only right that Mounted Unit Offices receive the shields, same as TSG
Just again; MO8 & MO19, do not come into my comments with hate or things about “oh mo7 dont need this, mo7 dont need that cos we have MO8 and MO19 who can do that for you”, remember that MO7 can be an individual division and we should not need to always be needing MO8/MO19 to be assisting us in our duties.
Just wanted to add that red caps should also come back as currently you can only use them with commands and also med7 should work as a qualification similar to CS gas as there aren’t many supervisors online when TSG deploys
By deploying I mean when we are doing public engagement not deploying to public order usually when we are doing patrolling and BP there is only two constables or maybe even a senior
Id say dont involve yourselves in armed protests and you wont need med7, i doubt this will be added as well. Your hats were PROBABLY removed for a reason, but I dont see an issue with them coming back. For your armour Ill say the same thing, if a protest is too cahotic just ask for mo19 to join up and use your bulletproof shields. The bollards I dont see an issue with but also dont see a big point.
The thing about armed protests is that when we arrive it’s peaceful but usually the protesters end up being armed so we can’t really avoid it and I’m not sure why the hats were removed for any reason and for bollards it’s a massive issue when we are trying to respond to protests inside BP as usually constables arrive first before supervisors or chief officers so it can make it difficult when responding to protests at BP
I quite agree with all these suggestions, even if I’m not part of MO7.
On top of this, I would like to add some ideas of tools, for civilians, that could improve protests and make them more interesting for both sides, all the while making them more peaceful without needing armed units to intervene:
Paintball Guns / Slingshots / Bricks
To be thrown as low damage projectibles, which can be negated by shields (possibly add durability to shield, in which case a high one).
Spray Bottles
Some graffities from a defined list to be painted on surfaces, would be great for both protests and regular vandalism. Could also be a less potent form of PAVA, which only impairs the vision, countered by TSG’s gasmasks. This would also make the game feel a bit less empty if you can find user made graffities here and there.
Eye protection
Probably a bad idea, but that would entice MPS to use other tactics to deal with protests rather than spraying PAVA like its water. Although, it should be very low durability, so that it does not affect regular gameplay too much.
Feel free to add on to this, to improve gameplay outside of constant gun fights ^ _ ^
With Idea 2; I forgot to add it in but as regular members of MPS and Divisionals can get access to Bandages and Splints, MO7 ( without the help of Volute Development ) could introduce a course to bring in a Medical Qualification which shows you are qualified to utilise the bandages and splints without interfering the PO incident, such as not disturbing the civilians partaking or disturbing the MO7 who are taking control of the incident.
I do understand where white caps are coming from, but the problem is going to be mixing them with RTPC as we majorly identify us from the white peaked caps. Instead, could it be a different color, maybe? Or even a different style of white hat.
Rest, I do agree Bollar access would be useful to everyone, to be honest.
They often get shot at by random civs or a civ in the protest so no time to prepare for that and requesting MO19 can go slow as MO19 doesn’t always join or they could take a long while, making a MO19 request and pinging all of the MO19 for an armed situation where there’s like 2 armed civs wouldn’t be a valid reason
Not sure if any of these got implemented yet, but these all seem good (not so sure about idea 3 though).
Idea 2 can be in the form of Public Order Medics, and Idea 1 should be used to make Sergeants have white (Serial Commanders) and Inspectors have red (PSU Commander), whilst DCmdr+ are bronze commanders (yellow/gold helmets).
It would still make a difference, but not fully prevent the effects.
It could be that the visual effects are not as intense (you can see more), as if you had eye protection you wouldn’t naturally close your eyes when the PAVA hits them.
