It doesn’t make much sense for anyone in no8s, that be someone support qualified or a CO, to hold their l8 at shoulder arms whilst on duty. I understand during some circumstances like ceremonies, the l8 at shoulder arms looks better but an optional l8 combat in the locker would be very nice.
Agreed, even in real life we will observe that Support Guards stationed around Buckingham Palace are visibly armed with combat rigs and L85A2’s in a combat postion. Not asking for combat rigs but opting for combat L85A2 would be a nice appeal to being a Support Guard.
Totally agree! This would be a great option.
I agree support guards and CO went through training to earn that.
Now that would be nice to have! I agree with this

I disagree as they would get mixed up with Grenadier Guards when they are deployed.
We don’t judge them from weapons because then we would be mixed between deployed RMP and GG from a distance. It’s all based on uniform and No8 doesn’t have any vests or helmets.
agreed. …
You would be surprised at how much I as a Grenadier have been mixed up for RMP or Support Guards just because I wear camo. I believe the rifle may add to the confusion.
As a SG, I agree with this
Personally a Support Guard should be given an optional L85A2 Combat and for many reasons to be honest as they are there for well support so they wouldn’t be carrying around the basic ceremonial L85A2 which IRL is just used for parades and such, so a Support Guard should be given the Combat version to walk around with.
Absolutely
