The new driving system kinda sucks, the gear shift and gas just made driving more complex so i suggest to bring back old driving system.
almost everyone hates the gears
(or make it you can use gears or dont)
ps. this isnt against the devs or anything
I agree 99% of the community hates the new car gear shifting and you should revert it, it allows new players to drive cars easily when they don’t know which MPH they need to reach before shifting. the community dislikes this car gear shifting update please revert it

the game is lagging also so much its impossible to roleplay

I totally agree with this as the game is 10x worse after the update, and in my opinion following the gears is a bit boring and less thrilling

Mate, everybody hates the new gear system. Change it back into the old one, i noticed this caused many people to quit and hate the game due to dumb gear system and lag.

The game still needs a lot of actually improvement not the new update shit. Plus, get rid of the fuelling as well and getting rid of the fuelling has to be a part of bringing back to the old driving system in the game.

I agree. This new feature wasn’t needed and everyone who I have talked to absolutely hates it. They should bring back the old gear system. Other than that, the update is pretty good.

In my opinion, the new system makes general police driving and pursuits that bit harder; especially if trying to follow IPP guidelines and type it all out in radio while trying to change gear and pursue. Automatic cars would be much better with the option to go into a manual mode if required. Neither is it very realistic because majority of the cars in game are not manual vehicles irl. This doesn’t really make sense given the game is trying to take a (seemingly) realistic approach to playing (minus the amount of civs who have firearms, pretty much every civ at this point).
Keeping the cars which are manual irl manual in the game could be a positive for “realism” as well as giving new players something to work towards (better, faster and easier automatic cars).

The game is getting REALLY laggy with this new system, basically no one likes it. We all think this is awful and makes driving x10 times more complicated, and for newbies this is going to be horrible, changing gears was already confusing for them when this system didn’t exist, imagine now that is it more strict. Please listen to the community and change it, no one likes this.

Tbh yeah either make automatic cars or old system because cars dont even move if higher gear. Even tho this is more realistic old system is better

I think they should revert it to the way it was. It’s extremely hard to escape pursuits and stop for gas every hour.

Well @lukebubbels i say fuel isnt the issue that’s actually good, the gearing system however is. Fuel system is good as then pursuits actually end up somewhere rather then going in circles all the time.
I really hope they switch back to the old gear system in the next update or at least give us an option to choose between auto and manual for the more expensive vehicles like Lotus or Ferrari. Everyone who payed 100k+ on these cars should not have to deal with this frustrating gear system

Agreed, after cars got an update my life has been harder in pursuits

I 100% agree with this statement, the new gear system is very confusing and makes trying to speed away in a car very hard

I agree, the fuel - system is fine, it’s just the gear system which messes up a lot. Either during pursuits or general playing.

I agree as well, i would keep the fuel system but i just think it should be changed back to how it was or automatic
the new driving system feels off for 2 reasons that can be fixed easilly
- you dont know when you’re supposed to shift, you cant see your revs so you have to guess or predict when you’re at max speed for the gear
- the vehicles are balanced based on acceleration, not speed and this affects their handling because slow accelerating vehicles can’t regain lost momentum easilly
i explain this in detail below but if you cba just look at the image
revs/shifting
the ui needs to have an indication for where your revs are so you know when to shift
the moment when you have to change gear is non intuitive and it differs vehicle to vehicle - unless you’re very familiar with your vehicle, often you mistakenly shift early/late while trying to drive fast, this leads to a feeling of inconsistent sluggish acceleration
the cars are clearly built on a-chassis, i know for a fact there’s a revs variable, it’s just not hooked up to a UI, so implementing this would be an easy fix (fig 1 - ui design)
speed balancing & acceleration
cars are balanced with acceleration and have identical gear speeds until high gears. the standard cars are devastatingly slow to get up to speed - their acceleration isn’t rapid so if you loose momentum (eg you take a turn) you have to coax it back up to speed slowly (fig 3 startercar)
standard cars are currently nerfed through acceleration which leads to bad handling.
everything should have a similar acceleration (fig 2) but with different speed ratios (fig 4) this balances vehicles in the same way, without compromising handling - especially with the new forced sequential gearbox
police vehicles sit in the middle of basic cars/supercars, and the higher end ones (volvo xc90/mustang) are generally tolerable but their handling still suffers because of their acceleration balancing. it’s the same problem, but reduced, because the average cop car is balanced to be fast
supercars are the only class where current acceleration/speed balancing works well - they use 50% of their power and when you really thrash them they take off - this is pretty good and they’re very driveable (fig 3 ferrari) – unfortunately (though i do), not everyone owns one

Ok so I think everyone already understood this system even before the new update as we could literally see a change in acceleration and we still want to change it back to the way it was
