ARD suggestion

Suggestion: progression route from ARD to specialist divisions

I think we should create a path for ARD members to move into specialist divisions. This path would run alongside the current application system.

Now moving into specialist divisions mainly involves applying through a standard process. That works okay. I believe we can improve internal development. We should formally acknowledge the experience ARD members gain.

Proposal:

We could introduce a route for ARD members to enter specialist divisions by doing the following:

• Completing required Academy training

• Working as a Supervisor, in ARD

• Spending a certain amount of time actively working in ARD

• Getting good performance feedback from command

When ARD members meet these requirements they would be eligible to enter a specialist division (they would have to pass academy). This would happen through a review and approval process, not the standard application route. ARD members would have a progression route. Specialist divisions would get experienced people.

The alternative route would help ARD members move forward in their careers. They would not have to go through the application process instead they should be judged based on their performance within the ARD. This can help members who may struggle with traditional applications but can clearly demonstrate their ability through performance and experience

I know there will be a lot of disagreement with this suggestion but ARD is a division for qualified MPS to learn about other specialist divisions and when members of ARD can clearly show there professionalism and commitment, they should be given a chance to transfer into a serious division.

Agreed - ARD should have a purpose and should be a general learning ground for those wanting to progress further. The very basics could be taught here including teamwork and various fundamental principles including safe driving, IPP handling and informing users of various careers within the MPS. Applications for MOs will be released ONLY to ARD and would have stricter eligibility requirements for example serving x time in ARD with x minutes logged.

This would allow MOs to shorten their academies and streamline the process into specialisation. For example Met Operations 19 will only focus on how to handle firearms situations as basic MET information would have already been taught. This would also be beneficial as it gives a purpose to ARD COs. Progression within ARD would be easy, although would not yield the same benefits. For example ARD supervisors could eventually progress to ARD COs more quickly than COs from MOs which would meet the higher CO requirement for ARD compared to other divisions.

That’s an interesting suggestion. However, it pertains to Gold rather than development. Please share your suggestion through an MPS enquiry ticket.

I feel like allowing only people in ARD to apply to a MET Ops is completely unfair and unjustified.
That’s like saying you need a GSQC to join an RG division.

ARD provides nothing in game, and is basically an Advanced MET Qualification but is for some reason classed as a ‘MET Op’
People might not want to join ARD as it has basically nothing to offer minus a bit of extra training. Why would people choose to go through 2 Academies, ARD then MET Ops when they could just simply apply for that MET Ops in the first place?
Also from what I’m seeing of ARD Officers in game, they are nothing like any MET Operation, no separate tools, no separate tactics such as no control over pursuits or PO/FA Incidents, they are plain old Constables with extra Handbook refinement, they shouldn’t be given any more priority into a MET Operation than any other individual just because they didn’t do an ARD Academy.

By this point, you might as well just ask a MET Operations Silver Command for a fast track.
