If you’re going to comment saying it’s unrealistic, please don’t - I know. But what I also know is that it’s unrealistic for half of Westminster to be driving around in a x5 upgraded engine on a McLaren with a FAMAS F1 and MP10 on them. Yes, it makes the game fun - I am not denying that. However, to make it fun for the civilians has made it less fun for those who have to deal with all this stuff.
It is often MO8 have to leave pursuits because the people they are chasing are armed, leaving MO8 to be driving into a death trap if they choose to continue. Then they are left to MO19, who simply cannot keep up with the vehicle in question.
I propose that MO8 should be equipped with a reasonable sidearm in ratio to what they come up against. I am not suggesting to give them a G36K, but instead something like a Glock 21 to use as a method of self defence. This would allow for MO8 to actually pursue vehicles, regardless of them being armed or not, resulting in them ACTUALLY being roads and transport policing command. Because at the minute, they simply aren’t - and it’s not fair on them.

True. Civilians driving around in maxxed out Mclarens and having 9 firearms on them isn’t realistic, so why should MO8 suffer. Obviously MO8 would still be only focusing on road crimes and utilize their firearms when met with gunfire. They would not try to respond to armed situations like MO19 does.
Mo7 needs this too almost all protests are armed or either a third party kills us anyway for no reason. From past few days continuously we never even a single time cuffed the protesters, cause we never got chance to. The armed suspects [ Third Party ] kills us or they protesters turns violent and kills us. Protests are becoming no longer a fun for us.
Yeah like MED19. Basically a blue ticket qual. Right now there are some SFOs on MO8. They should be able to use their blue ticket on these divs too, as a start, on a trial basis and see if MO8 should be given firearms or not. After that, MO8 constables could obtain a blue ticket under MO19 supervision.
Does it though? Because their RoE would only be shoot when fired upon, and still try to escape the scene. Once shot at, they would not stay and try to take down armed suspect. They would shoot back and ask for support from MO19, and leave the scene when MO19 arrives. They will not respond to armed calls. They would only use their firearms if someone attacked them.
Not really. If firearms were to be issued to officers in MO7, they would almost certainly be for defensive purposes only. Besides, we’re not dedicated firearms officers, so I don’t really see that as a major concern for giving MO7 firearms for defensive use during protests, public events, etc.
This suggestion is completely and utterly unrealistic. You cannot be serious that you want Roads and Transport policing to have access to firearms.
It doesn’t matter that it is a sidearm, it still would not be realistic, and you should leave vehicles with armed individuals inside to MO19 who CAN deal with it.
There is only so much MO8 can do and if you know it is going to be a “death trap”, then leave it to the right people.
I mean it wouldn’t hurt to be given such, I don’t see all the point in gatekeeping firearms to certain divisons as frankly they are meant to work together so giving MO8 a firearm in the terms of a basic pistol or such really wouldn’t be too bad and it can be locked behind a qualification and all that, yes I see the point of leaving pursuits with armed individuals to MO19 but the whole basis of MO8 is literally pursuits and more (haven’t been in MO8 so if I missed some stuff then I’m sure some can add on) but I would like to add what if there was not a Mo19 member online would MO8 just have to let this armed individual roam free just because they weren’t able to be given a sidearm to be able to tackle this situation.
I think at the end of this should really be looking at if it would be fine just to give them something.

The point is that it would be unrealistic for MO8 to carry sidearms. Something else to consider is that MO19 are perfectly capable with pursuits involving armed individuals. (Ask @zaperxr)
Also, if there was no MO19 online, you can call on them for assistance, OR, you can call on a regular Armed Response Vehicle for assistance.
Yeah, MO19 are actually trained in pursuits if anyone didn’t know that. I do not think that MO8 could handle a fully upgraded mclaren much better than MO19.
I am much aware of MO19 being fully capable and trained in dealing with pursuits, frankly the only point I am making is that it wouldn’t hurt to give them an extra qualification or such to be allowed to carry a sidearm and of course it can be restricted to whatever rank as there is times when MO8 do get shot at without any backup so I think they would appreciate some sort of sidearm.
