Hello!
As of right now, it is sometimes really easy to identify a Covert Policing Officer (CPO). Because of this I would like to suggest some sort of update for the current Covert Policing subclass. In the following, I will name and elaborate some aspects that could improve keeping the identity of CPO‘s hidden, which makes it more enjoyable and realistic.
Adding medals for Covert Policing
Ability to change/remove your own name from the police playerlist
Everyone has them, medals. As of right now, seeing a civillian in a decent car (e.g. a Tesla) without them having any medals attracts attention and is really suspicious already, as most of the players have medals and have them turned on aswell (As by default). Not seeing medals on a player that is not known in the community, often leads to checking the roblox playerlist and finding out if they are a CPO or not. Simply giving CPO‘s the opportunity to choose between different medals on their covert identity would help to stay off-radar.
Currently, regarding from my experience which I gathered while playing as Civillian myself (Could be wrong), Covert Policing Officers can choose a new username for their civillian identity. This username then also appears in the in-game playerlist under the civillian team. However, the more a player is playing on the covert subclass, the more people will get to know, who the player really is. For example: If a „Player A“ is playing on the covert subclass, he arrests people from time to time and civillians will get to know that „Player A“ has access to covert. Because of this information, some players will start to scan the roblox playerlist everytime they see „Player A“ on the police team to find out if, and which civillian in the civillian playertab is a CPO. To make people stop automatically checking the playerlist for coverts once they see a known CPO like „Player A“ you could give CPO‘s the ability to not only choose a Civillian name that appears in the playerlist, but to also either remove or change their own username from the police tab in the playerlist. This would prevent players from looking for the Covert as soon as seeing someone like „Player A“ on the police team.
In short:
Give Covert Policing Officers the ability to give their civillian-Identity medals
Give Covert Policing Officers the ability to either change or remove their own username from the police tab on the playerlist
This suggestion is a well-thought-out and practical approach to improving the realism and effectiveness of the Covert Policing Officer (CPO) system. It addresses a legitimate issue — the ease with which players can identify CPOs — and offers clear, actionable solutions that would significantly enhance immersion and gameplay. Allowing CPOs to equip medals on their civilian identity would help them blend in more naturally, reducing suspicion from other players. Furthermore, the ability to hide or alter their real username in the police playerlist would make it far more difficult for others to track or identify them based on meta-knowledge. These changes would not only protect the covert nature of their role but also improve roleplay quality and game balance. Overall, the proposal demonstrates strong insight into player behavior and game mechanics, making it a valuable recommendation for developers to consider.
I’ve only just come across this post, and I agree. What definitely needs to be changed is the fact that if you get fined by a Covert officer, you are their actual username in the bottom. This is problematic for them as I could just go and tell all the civilians not to go near that civilian as they are undercover and not to be trusted (so no one gets arrested or whatever). That’s happened to me a few times. Are CPO’s even meant to fine people with civilian switched on? Gives themsrlves away, straight away!
You’ve missed the point! We’re talking highly trained officers who are handpicked as you should well know. Please understand that I am agreeing with the MET here that the covert system should be updated, I have put a very good point across, which actually benefits them, by keeping their anonymity, and you are dismissing it, as a Commander. Commander HitMxrker85 is willing to find other ways to make it work, so why won’t you?
You always seem to have to be right about everything. When we discuss the police service in these forums, you give up on solutions every time we propose one. Meanwhile, the rest of us look for ways to make things better. Listen to the QA testers and your colleagues, and read what they have to say. You don’t have to agree with everything I say, but if QA testers and colleagues of yours are going against your advice of not finding solutions, doesn’t that say something about your general management skills?
Again, there is no need to personally attack me for having a different opinion. Everyone is entitled to their view, that is the purpose of this forum. I have presented my view without attacking you for yours, please do me the same courtesy.
